I loveeeeee December!
It’s my favourite time of the year with all that festive cheer all around Singapore. And as a new mother, I’m determined to make bubs love Christmas as much as I do hahaha.
While going away for the holidays (especially if there’s snow and hot chocolate and ice skating involved) might sound exceptionally fun, it isn’t logistically the easiest activity with a baby in tow. I often joke – actually, I probably ain’t joking – about how I need a real holiday after a holiday with bubs.
So if you’re
stuck in Singapore just like me, here are some activities you can join me at this month!
Part of the fun in holidays is the hotel stay and you can do that here in Singapore too! The husband and I have had a traditional of doing a Christmas staycation for the longest time now, and this year, we’re going to include Nate too! For a child-friendly hotel, I definitely recommend Shangri-La Hotel!
Not only are their five Themed Family Suites and Deluxe Family Rooms super fun and inviting, other perks include a central pantry on the dedicated family floor, well-stocked Stokke amenities and other family services, plus, complimentary access to Buds by Shangri-La.
2) Buds by Shangri-La
But it’s okay if you didn’t manage to score a staycation at Shangri-La! You can still drop by their Indoor and Outdoor Playgrounds at Buds by Shangri-La – trust me, when I say it’s fun, it really is.
The Explorer Zone is filled with sand pits, nets, slides, ball pits and mazes; and the Toddler Zone comes with swings and slides; an interactive piano floor, a ball pit and vintage kiddie rides which are suitable for children aged 4 years and below.
As for the outdoor areas, kids can play make-believe inside a giant pirate ship structure offering challenging climbs and slides, and a water play zone with splash pads.
It’s the only place I know that can keep my overactive toddler occupied for almost two whole hours!
3) Farmart’s Animal Corner
Surrounded by greenery and rustic charm, this village filled with farm-animal feeding, prawning & hawker food stands will make you feel like you’re NOT in Singapore.
I personally want my children to grow up loving animals and what better way to do it than with their animal feeding sessions at their Animal Corner.
4) Christmas Wonderland
Do your kids get really enthralled with bright lights? Mine does!
The Christmas Wonderland happening now till 26 December at Gardens by the Bay is Singapore’s biggest yuletide fair and there’s a dazzling array of activities and entertainment for everyone.
This includes a charming European-style Festive Market, outdoor skating under the stars, carnival games and kiddie rides, ‘snow’ in the tropics, magical luminarie sculptures that transform the fairground into a stunning wonderland and so much more.
5) Changi Airport
One of my fondest memories with my parents when I was a child is going to the Airport for ice cream at Swensen’s and watching planes take off and I want to give such memories to Nate too.
You might have already heard of the Wizarding World Holiday happening at Changi Airport where bubs can explore set-ups inspired by Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts series (I personally LOVE Harry Potter!!!) but if you aren’t a Harry Potter fan, you can still Celebrate Christmas at Changi with live music performances, photo taking and arts & crafts activities to check out!
What are you doing this December? Share with me your ideas!
