Family fun at the Botanic Gardens
In Busy Singapore, Parents are constantly looking for affordable activities for their children. The Malls are always crowded on the weekends, and many parents just want alternative places to bring their kids on weekends.
A real fun affordable place to visit is the Singapore Botanic Gardens.
Located just a “stones throw” from Orchard Road, the gardens are centrally located, and its grounds have more than enough adequate spaces for parents and kids to enjoy!
Just recently, some of the our friends gathered together with us for a picnic at the Botanic Gardens.
To tell you the truth, I have never stepped into the Botanic Gardens for most of my adult life, as I am not exactly a nature lover…but things change when you become a parent. Isn’t that true for all of us? 🙂
So…Out came the straw mats, and we formed a little ‘island’, for the kids and adults to gather and have fellowship together.
Besides the “yummy’ food that every parent brought to the picnic, we also ‘pooled’ together our creativity and organised some fun games for the kids as well.
Besides walking in the park to feed the fishes, this park is a great location for group activities. It is also a place frequented by many “dog lovers”, and you will see many proud pet owners there.
In order to bring something “extra” to our gathering, we brought along a “bubble machine” for the kids.
This proved to be a real hit, which attracted all the kids in the park to our area as well.
In fact, these ‘outsiders’ liked us so much, that they even stayed back for our games! I did not even realize it, until Mummy pointed it out to me! I thought they were our friends’ nephews and nieces!
We had games like a simple “Parent & Child” tele-match, and other physical activities that aimed at tiring the kid out! This is really essential, if you want peace and quiet at home! 🙂
Here are some more photos of our event:
We really had a good time, and we ended the day at “Ben n Jerry’s”.
Time with the kids can be really fun, and who says that it is always expensive! Check out your nearby park for your next family activity and invite your friends along for more great company! 🙂
