Derrick and I have three kids – Lovelle (5), Scott (4) and Zev (2) – and we are thinking of adding to our brood. It might seem strange, given that large households are getting rarer these days, but we both really love kids and have always wanted a big family.
Our three kids get along well (depending on their mood, of course!). They enjoy doing activities together, such as horse riding, visiting zoos and farms, going on family road trips, and even helping me at my home-based jelly cake business (@simslikeatreat).
We also try our best to give them equal attention by bringing them out individually and spending one-on-one time with them. Fortunately for us, they’re open to the idea of having more siblings.
Raising several kids can be a challenge, in terms of both time and finances. But we try to inculcate the value that “sharing is caring”, and buy supplies in bulk to cut down on costs. Having supportive parents and grandparents is also key, as they can help with childcare duties.
At the end of the day, the rewards ultimately outweigh the difficulties. With kids, we have learnt many things – patience, love, and the importance of family – and embracing the abundance of joy they bring into our lives.
