fbpx 2 Things Ladies Should Do, To Love Their Body More | I Love Children

Young Adults

Ladies, when was the last time you showed some love to your body?

As we go through different stages of life, our body also goes through changes and it is important to provide self-love and give your body what it needs.

This is especially important for mothers-to-be as their body goes through unimaginable (and amazing) changes in the next few months. And the good news is, all Sebamed products are dermatologically tested and are safe to use during pregnancy.

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are a form of scarring on the skin that looks like rippled, streaky lines that fade from shades of reddish-brown into scar-like streaks over time. They appear when your skin is pulled and stretched rapidly.  When your skin is overstretched, this may cause the tearing of the connective tissue in the dermis and epidermis layer of overstretched skin. As a result, the ‘scarring’ that forms is what we observe as stretch marks.

Apply right at the beginning of your pregnancy to prepare your skin for the changes to come.

As your body adapts throughout your pregnancy journey to the growing baby, stretch marks can show up on many parts of your body, such as your stomach, breasts, hips, butt, and thighs. Stretch marks can also cause itch and irritation. However, do not be alarmed! Massage with Sebamed Anti-Stretch Mark Cream on commonly overlooked parts of your body and experience the non-sticky and non-greasy touch.

With the active ingredients, Olive Oil Extract, Tiger Grass Extract, and other valuable Peptides, Sebamed Anti-Stretch Mark Cream is effective in preventing stretch mark formation. Olive Oil extract helps the penetration and absorption of Tiger Grass Extract and Peptides that help to stimulate your skin cell membranes to produce more collagen fibers which help to strengthen your skin’s connective tissue.

As such, by starting at the very beginning of your pregnancy journey, Sebamed Anti-Stretch Mark Cream can help stimulate the production of your own collagen to strengthen your skin’s connective tissues. With better-adapted elasticity and stronger connective tissues, your skin is well-prepared to adapt to your growing bundle-of-joy!

On top of that, Sebamed Anti-Stretch Mark Cream also contains nourishing Avocado Oil and Shea Butter to help smoothen and soften your delicate skin.

Most importantly, like all other Sebamed products, Sebamed Anti-Stretch Mark Cream is formulated specifically at the skin’s ideal pH 5.5 to ensure that your skin’s natural protective skin barrier is functioning well to protect from dehydration, irritation, and eczema.

What is pH 5.5?

Sebamed products are formulated at pH 5.5 similar to skin’s natural protective acid mantle

Being pregnant can already be stressful and it may even increase your anxiety. A woman’s immune system changes during pregnancy which make you more susceptible to viral infections.

It is a great product, I used it during pregnancy and I like it a lot. ~ Hera

The optimal pH value of our skin is at pH 5.5 which is mildly acidic. The pH value of 5.5 stabilises the skin’s function as a barrier and helps to retain moisture. Changes in the pH value of the skin weaken the protective function of the acid mantle which causes skin infection, dehydration, skin irritations, and allergies.

The cream is easily absorbed into my skin and the fragrance is mild. ~ Evelyn

The wrong usage of daily skin care, such as using conventional soap or other care products may damage the protective acid mantle as the pH value does not correspond to the skin’s natural pH value of 5.5. Continuous and long-term washing with products that are higher than pH 5.5 (alkali) may cause your skin’s acid mantle layer to break down, allowing allergens to enter and irritate your skin. Over time, your skin will become dry and damaged. Apart from skin contact with strong acids or bases, cleansing with just water may also alter the skin’s pH value.

Therefore, it is important to be mindful of the products that you put on your skin.

Intimate Hygiene

Use a coin size amount and lather with water over your intimate area.

The physiological pH value of the intimate area is more acidic as compared to the other parts of the body. When women begin to menstruate, the level of estrogen in the body starts to rise and the pH level of the genitals starts to decrease to a more acidic pH value of 3.8. Using products with an incompatible pH value can be too harsh on the mucous membranes of the intimate area and may result in discomfort.

Mothers-to-be goes through rapid estrogen level increase during her first trimester as well as increased blood flow in the body, which results in a higher amount of vaginal discharge. The vaginal area acts as a birth canal and vaginal discharge helps to prevent infections travelling up from the vagina to the womb. Therefore, maintaining the pH level of the vaginal area is crucial. The lack of proper feminine hygiene increases the risk of genital infections.

When the vaginal discharge is significantly different, it may be a sign of an underlying infection. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience any unusual vaginal bleeding, burning pain when urinating, and ulcers on the intimate area.

Although it’s pricey compared to other brands, I found this intimate wash very beneficial. It has a subtle fresh scent, and just a small amount for each wash eliminates odour and prevents itchiness. Keeping the skin feeling clean and fresh. ~ Chryssie, mummy of 3 kids

As the intimate area is extremely sensitive, it is important to use Sebamed Feminine Intimate Wash pH 3.8 which supports the vulva’s micro-flora balance, for genital protection. The gentle pH 3.8 formula and Lactic Acid supports the micro-flora balance of the intimate area and therefore helps to protect against harmful micro-organisms. Care complex ingredients such as Chamomile and Aloe Vera helps to soothe irritation, and moisturise dry and sensitive skin.
